Abhishek Kanpala and Prakriti Bharath are set to lead India's boys and girls teams respectively in the Late Sushant Chipalkatti Yonex Sunrise India Junior International Grand Prix Badminton Tournament. Starting Tuesday, the event will draw participants from 13 different countries.
Organized by the Poona District Metropolitan Badminton Association, under the aegis of the Badminton Association of India, this tournament honors the late Sushant Chipalkatti. It will be held at the PE Society's Modern PDMBA Sports Complex and has become a vital event in the junior badminton circuit.
This year, 280 players from countries including the USA, Australia, and Indonesia will compete in categories such as U-19 boys and girls singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. The tournament, part of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) circuit, offers ranking points and essential international experience to young players.
