Tribute to Ryan Evans: A Fallen Safety Adviser

Ryan Evans, a 38-year-old safety adviser for Reuters, was killed in a missile strike in Kramatorsk, Ukraine. Ryan Evans, a safety adviser whose wealth of combat experience made him indispensable to Reuters, was killed in a missile strike on a hotel in Kramatorsk, Ukraine. Evans, 38, was with a group of journalists reporting on Ukrainian troops on the front line against Russia.

Two Reuters journalists were also injured in the attack. Evans had made over 20 trips to Ukraine since joining Reuters in 2022, bringing his military expertise from the Royal Welch Fusiliers. He was known as the 'gadget man' and often cooked for reporters when power was out in parts of Ukraine.

Evans, a married father of four, had previously worked in Israel, Gaza, and at the Paris Olympic Games. His approachable manner made him a beloved figure among journalists. Reuters' Editor in Chief Alessandra Galloni praised his invaluable guidance and professionalism.
