Billy Horschel secured victory at the BMW PGA Championship on Sunday, besting Rory McIlroy and Thriston Lawrence in a dramatic three-man playoff at Wentworth. Horschel's remarkable eagle putt on the 18th hole clinched him the winner's cheque of $1.53 million.

Rory McIlroy, aiming for his second title after his 2014 win, birdied the 18th hole again but was ultimately edged out by Horschel. Horschel, who claimed his first win in 2021, became the first American to win the event twice, describing it as thrilling yet bittersweet given his close friendship with McIlroy.

South African golfer Thriston Lawrence, who had bridged a five-shot gap with seven birdies, saw his hopes dashed after a bogey on the 18th. Despite momentary setbacks, both McIlroy and Lawrence exhibited stellar play but couldn't overcome Horschel's resilience and clutch performance.
