England Women's Captain Heather Knight Faces Reprimand Over 2012 Social Media Post

England women's captain Heather Knight has been reprimanded and issued a suspended £1,000 ($1,334) fine after admitting to a charge related to a 2012 social media post, as confirmed by England's Cricket Regulator on Monday. The post featured Knight in blackface at a fancy dress party in Kent.

The photo was found offensive, violating ECB directive 3.3, which addresses actions that could harm cricket's reputation. However, the Cricket Discipline Commission (CDC) report clarified that Knight had 'no racist or discriminatory intent'.

At 21 during the incident, Knight has since apologized for her naivety, stating, 'I'm truly sorry for the mistake I made in 2012. It was wrong, and I have long regretted it. While I can't change the past, I am committed to promoting inclusivity across the game.'
