India's star batter Virat Kohli made history by becoming the fastest player to surpass 27,000 international runs during the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur. Kohli eclipsed Sachin Tendulkar's record, achieving the milestone in just 594 innings on a sunny Monday.
While Tendulkar reached the feat in 623 innings, Kohli's accomplishment also places him ahead of Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara and Australia's Ricky Ponting, who took 648 and 650 innings respectively. Kohli's elegant play was on display until he was bowled out by Shakib Al Hasan for 47.
India's aggressive play continued despite two days of rain. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma's quickfire partnership of 55 runs in just 3.5 overs set the tempo, with Shubman Gill providing stability to help India reach the hundred-run mark in record time.
