UEFA and FIFPRO Forge Historic Partnership for Players' Representation

UEFA and FIFPRO have entered a partnership to include players' perspectives in football governance. FIFPRO will join the UEFA Executive Committee in an advisory role, marking a significant step for player representation. This move addresses concerns over player welfare and employment conditions.

In a significant development for European football, UEFA has announced a partnership agreement with FIFPRO, granting the global players' union a position within its executive committee. This milestone move was revealed by Europe's soccer governing body on Tuesday.

Starting next May, FIFPRO will take an advisory seat on the UEFA Executive Committee, ensuring that players' perspectives are considered in decision-making processes. UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin emphasized the importance of player input, stating, "Players are at the heart of football, and their perspectives must shape the decisions taken."

With this unprecedented involvement, FIFPRO aims to address players' concerns about increasing workloads and employment conditions. The agreement arrives as several players have expressed readiness to strike over intensified fixture schedules, with expanding European club competitions and the FIFA Club World Cup. David Terrier, FIFPRO Europe President, hailed the agreement as a landmark achievement for professional players in Europe.
