The New York Jets interviewed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Todd Monken for their head-coaching vacancy on Tuesday, the team announced. It was the sixth head-coaching interview for the Jets, after Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, former Dolphins head coach Adam Gase, former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy, Cowboys defensive backs coach/passing game coordinator Kris Richard and former Colts and Lions head coach Jim Caldwell.

Monken, who turns 53 in February, took over playcalling duties in Tampa Bay this season and helped the Bucs finish third in yards and 12th in points. He has seven years of NFL coaching experience -- including three as the Bucs' coordinator -- and was a head coach in college at Southern Mississippi from 2013-15.

Monken was reportedly a strong candidate for the Packers' job -- which went to Matt LaFleur -- and interviewed for the Bengals' vacancy on Monday. His old role in Tampa Bay appears to be filled, as the Buccaneers hired head coach Bruce Arians on Tuesday and reportedly will add Harold Goodwin (run game/O-line) and Byron Leftwich (pass game) to split offensive coordinator duties.
