Pittsburgh Steelers president Art Rooney II cast serious doubt about the future of wide receiver Antonio Brown with the team, in an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Thursday. "As we sit here today, it's hard to envision that," Rooney told the newspaper when asked if Brown would be with the Steelers when they open training camp in July. "But there's no sense on closing the door on anything today."
Super Bowl broadcast will have no sports betting chatter: CBS
The Super Bowl may be the biggest sports wagering event in the United States each year, but announcers will not be talking about betting during the broadcast of the big game next month, CBS said on Thursday. For the first time in nearly 30 years, Super Bowl fans will be able to bet legally on the game outside of Nevada, after New Jersey, West Virginia and a handful of other states legalized sports wagers after a U.S. Supreme Court ruling in May overturned a 1992 prohibition.
NHL roundup: Senators snap 8-game skid
In a battle of teams looking to get back on track, Colin White scored 1:34 into overtime as the visiting Ottawa Senators ended their eight-game losing streak Wednesday with a 2-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks. Senators right winger Mark Stone attacked the Ducks goal and slipped a pass back to White for the game-winner. It was the 11th goal of the season for White.

Antetokounmpo finished with team highs in points (27) and rebounds (21), including four rebounds on the offensive end.

LeBron James will be sidelined for at least another week after suffering a groin injury during the Los Angeles Lakers' Christmas Day win over the Golden State Warriors,, the National Basketball Association team said on Thursday. The update came after James, a four-times NBA Most Valuable Player who joined the Lakers in the offseason, was evaluated by team medical staff and physicians earlier on Thursday.
Reports: Williams among Jets DC candidates
The New York Jets are aiming high to fill their defensive coordinator position under reported new coach Adam Gase, considering a trio of former head coaches for the role, including Gregg Williams, multiple outlets reported Thursday. Williams was just let go by the Cleveland Browns earlier this week when the club named Freddie Kitchens its new head coach. Williams went 5-3 as the interim coach in Cleveland after Hue Jackson was fired at midseason. Williams was also head coach in Buffalo from 2001-03.
Murray suffers Djokovic mauling in Australian Open practice
World number one Novak Djokovic gave Andy Murray a stinging reality check in the lead-up to next week's Australian Open, dominating the Briton 6-1 4-1 in a practice match at Melbourne Park on Thursday. Murray has struggled to regain form since undergoing hip surgery last January, and was quickly dismantled by the six-times Australian Open champion at Margaret Court Arena before the players called time on their match after less than an hour.
Cousins set to start in January 18 debut with Warriors
Golden State center DeMarcus Cousins is targeting Jan. 18 for his return to the court, and said he plans to start when the Warriors face the Clippers in Los Angeles. Head coach Steve Kerr confirmed Thursday that Cousins will start immediately upon his return.

Serena Williams's coach Patrick Mouratoglou expects on-court coaching to continue virtually unchecked at the Grand Slams despite the furor during last year's U.S. Open final when he attempted to guide her mid-match. Mouratoglou gestured to Williams in the stands during her tempestuous defeat by Japan's Naomi Osaka at Flushing Meadows, leading to a code violation and sparking a heated row between the American great and the chair umpire.
