Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Renames Iconic Cricket Stadium After Imran Khan
The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, has renamed the Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium to Imran Khan Cricket Stadium. This move honors Imran Khan, a cricketer-turned-politician, for his contributions to Pakistan's sports. Although the stadium's significance dates back to 1986-87, not everyone supports the renaming.

The province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in northwest Pakistan has renamed its only cricket stadium in Peshawar to Imran Khan Cricket Stadium, according to a statement from the provincial information department issued on Friday.
The decision was approved in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, renaming the Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium after the PTI leader. Khan's party has governed the province for the past 12 years, securing victories in three consecutive general elections since 2013.
The government intended this honor for Khan to recognize his significant impact on Pakistan's sports arena as its founder. Though the stadium's history stretches back to its development in 1986-87, the renaming has elicited mixed reactions, particularly from Arbab Niaz's family.
