In a significant move for regional sports development, Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya convened with senior officials in Punjab and Chandigarh. The meeting focused on strategies to upgrade sports infrastructure across the northern region, supported by the Sports Authority of India (SAI).

Mandaviya honored 30 accomplished athletes, who excelled in disciplines like kabaddi, handball, and judo, reflecting the government's commitment to nurturing young talent through national and international competitions.

Aiming for India’s ascension as a sports superpower by 2047, Mandaviya reviewed facilities at SAI RC Chandigarh. This largest regional hub oversees 152 Khelo India Centres, six state centers, and 42 academies, currently training over 2,400 athletes, as part of the ambitious evolution of sports infrastructure.
