The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), reigning champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL), have kicked off their preparations for the upcoming 2025 season with an intensive training camp in Mumbai. Spanning from February 21 to February 28, the week-long camp aims to consolidate their core domestic talents through a mix of training and bonding sessions.
Key player Venkatesh Iyer leads the roster of nine domestic players, including Rinku Singh and Ramandeep Singh, as they focus on creating early momentum for the tournament. Under the guidance of head coach Chandrakant Pandit and his support staff, the camp incorporates strength and conditioning, skill development, and match simulation exercises. The camp aims to set the tone before moving to a larger setup in Kolkata, starting March 12, after the ICC Champions Trophy concludes.
Spin bowling coach Carl Crowe highlighted the importance of reinvigorating the squad, emphasizing both familiar faces and new recruits like Mayank Markande. The coaching setup, complete with experts like Bharat Arun and Sagar V, ensures comprehensive support across all preparation facets. KKR's IPL 2025 campaign is scheduled to open against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 22 at Eden Gardens.
