Grant Holloway Aims for Historic Triple World Indoor Title
Grant Holloway is set to compete for a third consecutive world indoor title in the 60m hurdles next month after securing his 82nd consecutive win at the U.S. trials. With a performance of 7.36 seconds, Holloway is on track to make history while focusing on extending his dominance both indoors and outdoors.
Grant Holloway is on the verge of achieving an unprecedented third straight world indoor title in the 60 meters hurdles next month. He recently secured his 82nd consecutive victory in this event at the U.S. trials, clocking in at a world-leading time of 7.36 seconds to outpace Cameron Murray by five hundredths of a second.
Holloway's remarkable winning streak traces back more than a decade. With his eyes set on the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China, Holloway hopes to achieve what no other hurdler has done before: clinching both indoor and outdoor world titles thrice each.
Despite the absence of several U.S. athletics stars, such as Masai Russell and Nikki Hiltz, Holloway remains focused and motivated. Russell opted out to concentrate on the outdoor season, while Hiltz is focusing on the Grand Slam Track. Meanwhile, Shelby Houlihan is making her return after a doping ban. Holloway will be the sole American defending his title in 2024, as other notable athletes like Christian Coleman and Elle St. Pierre are absent from the trials.
