Indian Grandmaster P. Iniyan secured the runner-up position at the 41st Cappelle La Grande International Open Tournament, following a narrow defeat in tie-breaks to French International Master Mahel. The tournament saw Iniyan accumulate 7.5 points through six victories and three draws.

Starting the event on a high note with four consecutive wins, Iniyan drew his fifth match with fellow Indian player IM Muthaiah. He later drew against GM Raja Rithvik, who eventually secured third place. Iniyan remained a co-leader until the penultimate round alongside Mahel.

This performance boosted Iniyan's rating by 16 points, bringing his live rating to an impressive 2566.
