ASMITA Rowing League: India's First City-Based Rowing Extravaganza

The Hussain Sagar Lake in India is set to host the country's first city-based rowing competition—the ASMITA Rowing League—on February 26. This groundbreaking event is anticipated to significantly popularize the sport.

Supported by the Government of India's Khelo India mission, the league will welcome eight teams, including Bhopal Waves Queen and Chennai Ranis, alongside 250 female participants in U-19 and U-23 categories, competing in five diverse events.

The tournament, organized with the Rowing Federation of India, offers the top six finishers attractive cash prizes across several rowing events. Esteemed coach Ismail Baig commends the government's efforts in promoting women's sports, particularly rowing, encouraging leniency in rules to attract more young talent.
