The Sports Ministry has revoked the Wrestling Federation of India's suspension, ending months of uncertainty and allowing a return to normal operations. This decision comes just in time for the selection trials for the Asian Championship in Amman.
The suspension, originally imposed on December 24, 2023, was due to governance and procedural issues within the newly-elected WFI board, which took office on December 21. An ad-hoc panel was formed by the Indian Olympic Association to manage WFI affairs during this period.
Recently, the ministry concluded that the WFI had made necessary corrections, prompting the decision to lift the suspension. This move is seen as crucial for India's performance in future international competitions, including the 2026 Asian Games and 2028 Olympic Games.
