Indian Army Shines at Khelo India Winter Games
The Indian Army showcased exceptional performance at the Khelo India Winter Games, securing the top position with multiple medals in events like ski mountaineering and Nordic skiing. Athletes like Rajeshwar Singh and Sunny Singh led the charge, contributing to India's overall success. Himachal Pradesh also delivered a standout performance.
The Indian Army continued its stellar performance during the penultimate day of the Khelo India Winter Games, clinching four medals to maintain dominance in the standings. The Army's Narsingh Thapa, Rajeshwar Singh, Sunil Rai, and Vishal Chandal excelled in the ski mountaineering men's relay, finishing with a remarkable time of 49:58.1.
Rajeshwar Singh, stationed at Gulmarg's High-Altitude Warfare School, expressed immense joy after winning two gold medals in this prestigious event. His feat was emblematic of the Army's robust support and the advantage of training in extreme weather conditions. The Army led with 7 gold, 5 silver, and 6 bronze medals, narrowly ahead of Himachal Pradesh.
In Nordic skiing, Sunny Singh's victory in the 15km event highlighted the Army's prowess. Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh shone in Alpine and snowboarding events with standout performances from Anchal, Tanuja, and Promila Thakur. The Indo-Tibetan Border Police women also dominated the Nordic skiing sprint, capturing all medals on offer.
