Delhi Capitals have announced the acquisition of 23-year-old Afghan batsman Sediqullah Atal as a replacement for English player Harry Brook, according to a team statement released on Wednesday. Atal gained recognition after a remarkable 85-run innings against Australia in the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year. With a record of 1,507 runs in 49 T20 matches, Atal averages 34.25, contributing 13 half-centuries to his name.

Atal emerged into the spotlight during the 2023 Kabul Premier League, scoring an unbeaten 118 runs off 56 balls, highlighted by seven fours and ten sixes, and culminating with a century in the final match. His efforts were instrumental in Afghanistan winning the ACC Men's T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024, where he emerged as the leading scorer with 368 runs in five games.

The Head Coach of Delhi Capitals, Hemang Badani, expressed enthusiasm about Atal's addition, "We are thrilled to welcome Atal to the Delhi Capitals. His impressive performances for the Afghan youth and senior teams make him a valuable asset to strengthen our batting lineup as we enter a pivotal stage of the tournament." In the IPL 2025 standings, PBKS holds third place with seven victories and a net run rate of +0.376, while Delhi Capitals stand fifth, having secured six wins.
