Coal India Open: A New Era of Golf in India Begins

In a significant development for Indian golf, Coal India Limited and the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) are set to host the first-ever Coal India Open. Scheduled from August 5 to August 8 at the Kensville Golf and Country Club in Ahmedabad, the prestigious tournament promises a generous prize purse of Rs 1 crore.
This marks the debut of Coal India Limited, the world's leading coal producer and a prominent public sector entity, as the Event Title Sponsor on the PGTI platform. The competition will showcase a strong lineup of 126 players, comprising 123 professionals and three amateurs. Among the notable Indian participants are Yuvraj Sandhu, Om Prakash Chouhan, Manu Gandas, and Udayan Mane, while international talents include Sri Lankans N Thangaraja and K Prabagaran, Bangladeshis Jamal Hossain and Badal Hossain, Nepal's Sukra Bahadur Rai, and Subash Tamang.
Coal India's Chairman-cum-Managing Director, PM Prasad, expressed enthusiasm about partnering with PGTI, emphasizing the collaboration's role in fostering the growth of golf in India. Amandeep Johl, CEO of PGTI, welcomed Coal India as a title sponsor, asserting the alliance's capacity to enhance the tournament's stature and affirm institutional confidence in Indian golf.
