In an exhilarating display of resilience and skill, Shillong Lajong FC staged a comeback to defeat Indian Navy FT 2-1 in the first quarterfinal of the historic Durand Cup. The dramatic encounter unfolded at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, marking Shillong Lajong's second straight advancement to the semi-finals.

The team, under the guidance of Head Coach Birendra Thapa, started with a 4-3-3 formation, leveraging the attacking trilogy of Phrangki Buam, Everbrightson Sana, and Sheen Stevenson, while Indian Navy's Raman Rai chose a classic 4-4-2 setup. A tactical battle ensued, as both teams vied for control.

Vijay Marandi ignited the match with a 35th-minute goal, giving Indian Navy an early lead. A defensive stand by Shillong Lajong in the second half, however, set the stage for their comeback, with Damaitphang Lyngdoh delivering an equalizer and Everbrightson Sana clinching victory through a penalty, overpowering the opposition's defenses.
