Babar Azam is set to answer his critics in the T20 format as Pakistan faces South Africa in a trio of matches, beginning this Tuesday.
Despite not featuring since December, Babar stands just nine runs shy of breaking Rohit Sharma's T20 scoring record. While scores of 4,223 at an average of 39.83 are impressive, white-ball coach Mike Hesson is keen on seeing an improved strike rate and technique from the star player.
Pakistan's campaign without Babar has had mixed results, leading to his endorsement at No. 3, following Fakhar Zaman's absence. The series will also see South Africa under Donovan Ferreira's leadership, as key players like David Miller and Gerald Coetzee remain sidelined.
