Mahit Sandhu Shines with Golden Performance at Tokyo Deaflympics

In a remarkable display of skill, India's Mahit Sandhu clinched her second gold medal at the Summer Deaflympics in Tokyo, winning the 50m Rifle 3 Positions women's event. Sandhu dominated the competition with a combined score of 456.0 after 45 shots, edging out South Korea's Dain Jeong, who scored 453.5 for silver, and Hungary's Mira Zsuzsanna Biatovszki, who settled for bronze with a score of 438.6.
Setting new benchmarks, Sandhu broke both the Deaf Qualification World Record and the Deaflympics World Record on her way to the finals, according to the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI). She excelled in the qualifying rounds, shooting 585-31x with impressive scores in kneeling, prone, and standing positions, surpassing her previous world record set last year.
The Indian shooting team has achieved a stellar tally of 14 medals at the Deaflympics, including five golds. Tomorrow, shooters Abhinav Deshwal and Chetan Hanmant Sapkal are set to compete in the 25m Pistol event, aiming to expand India's medal haul further.
