On the third day of the second Test, India found themselves in dire straits, managing only 174 for seven at lunch in response to South Africa's formidable first innings total of 489. The home team's batting collapse highlighted their struggle against the visitors' bowling prowess.
Contributions were scarce, with Yashasvi Jaiswal's 58 off 97 balls being a notable exception. Washington Sunder, too, remained resilient with a 33 not out. Marco Jansen spearheaded South Africa's attack, claiming four wickets for 43 runs, while Simon Harmer chipped in with two wickets for 61 runs.
Four Indian wickets fell during the morning session, with the team precariously positioned at 102 for four by tea. Further setbacks saw three more wickets tumble, despite the crucial seventh-wicket stand between Washington and Kuldeep Yadav that offered some resistance. India now trails by 315 runs and requires another 116 to avoid a follow-on.
