In a thrilling turn, Indian cricketer Bharti Fulmali was acquired by the Gujarat Giants for Rs 70 Lakh during the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 auction. The 31-year-old, who previously played only as an injury replacement, expressed her delight over her first direct sale.

Speaking to JioHotstar, Fulmali shared her excitement and relief. Having gone unsold in the last two auctions, she described this moment as special. "Playing with the Gujarat Giants has always been my goal, and being picked this time felt amazing," said Fulmali, who has scored 197 runs in nine WPL matches.

The Gujarat Giants used their Right to Match card to retain Fulmali, signaling their trust in her abilities. The WPL 2026 will introduce scheduling changes, with the final on a weekday and matches hosted in Navi Mumbai and Vadodara over 28 days.
