Valencia Marathon Sees Record-Breaking Performances as John Korir Shines

John Korir claimed a marathon victory at Valencia, proving the Korir legacy remains strong. Kenyan runner John Korir secured his second marathon win of the season in Valencia, reaffirming the strength of the Korir name. Despite an earlier setback at the Chicago Marathon, Korir achieved a personal best with a time of 2:02:24.

Joining Korir in showcasing a series of remarkable performances was Germany's Amanal Petros, who broke his national record by 53 seconds. Norway's Awet Kibrab and Japan's Suguru Osako also set new national marks. The marathon further witnessed Olympic triathlon champion Alex Yee finishing seventh, making him the second-fastest British marathoner.

In the women's race, Joyciline Jepkosgei completed a victorious day for Kenya with a world-leading 2:14:00, the fourth-fastest time ever recorded by a woman.
