In a historic Indian Premier League auction, Kolkata Knight Riders spent a record Rs 25.20 crore on Australian all-rounder Cameron Green. The bidding war for Green became intense, with Chennai Super Kings also vying for the star player before KKR ultimately secured him.

Although KKR was able to clinch the deal for Green, his season salary remains Rs 18 crore, with the surplus funneled into the BCCI's player development as per auction rules for overseas players. Green has previously played for Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, scoring 707 runs and taking 16 wickets over 29 matches.

While Cameron Green grabbed headlines, Indian cricket hopefuls Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan surprisingly went unsold, despite recent domestic performances. Among other buys, Delhi Capitals acquired South African batter David Miller for Rs 2 crore. In total, 359 players participated, with 77 roster slots available for the ten IPL franchises.
