Ottneil Baartman showcased a remarkable seam-bowling display, clinching a hat-trick that contributed to a five-wicket haul, leading Paarl Royals into the SA20 playoffs at a packed Centurion on Thursday evening. This achievement marks Baartman as just the second bowler in SA20 history to record a hat-trick, following in the footsteps of Lungi Ngidi of the Pretoria Capitals.

Baartman's victims included Andre Russell, Lizaad Williams, and Ngidi himself. Earlier, he dispatched Connor Esterhuizen and trapped Jordan Cox, claiming both wickets in consecutive deliveries. His performance not only crowned him as the League's leading bowler with 57 wickets, surpassing former teammate Marco Jansen, but also helped dismiss the Capitals for a mere 127 runs.

Securing a comfortable chase, Royals achieved their target with six wickets and 4.1 overs to spare, earning a bonus point to lead the Betway SA20 standings with 21 points. Fellow players Sikandar Raza and Rubin Hermann also impressed, with Raza nearing the top of the wicket-takers list with two decisive wickets. Fan support favored Baartman, awarding him 89.5% of the Player of the Match vote.
