Anticipation mounts as Pune is set to host the Pune Grand Tour 2026, India's first Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) 2.2 multi-stage road race. This groundbreaking event, backed by Bajaj, will run from January 19 to 23, covering a 437-km route across Pune District's diverse terrain.
The race draws 29 teams from 35 countries, illustrating its vast international appeal. Among the prominent participants are teams from Morocco, including Sidi Ali Unlock Sports, and Southeast Asia's renowned 7-Eleven Cliqq Roadbike from the Philippines. Indonesian squads like ASC Monsters and Nusantara Cycling add to the diverse lineup, alongside EuroCyclingTrips - CCN from Guam and Britain's Schils Doltcini RT. The Mauritius National Team also participates, ensuring a globally diverse competition.
Organised by the Pune District Administration in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra and the Cycling Federation of India, this event not only signifies sporting excellence but also aims to showcase Pune's cultural heritage and scenic landscapes. The grand tour underscores India's emerging presence in professional cycling, anticipating exhilarating performances from elite athletes worldwide.
