In a significant move to bolster athlete support, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) has launched a nationwide drive to recruit assistant coaches across 26 disciplines. The initiative will benefit Centres of Excellence and other training facilities, with disciplines like shooting, athletics, swimming, and wrestling standing to gain the most.

SAI is seeking to fill 323 vacancies for assistant coaches, setting aside 33 per cent of these positions for women, across its various Regional and National Centres of Excellence spread nationwide. The recruitment process consists of a two-stage methodology, comprising a Computer Based Test (CBT) and a Coaching Ability Test (CAT).

The recruitment strategy assigns a composite weightage of 60 per cent for the Coaching Ability Test and 40 per cent for the CBT. Shortlisting for the Coaching Ability Test will be in a 1:3 ratio, with three times the number of candidates selected per vacancy. Key disciplines like athletics, shooting, and swimming offer numerous vacancies, with online tests scheduled in multiple cities.
