Mercedes Formula One boss Toto Wolff criticized rival teams on Monday for questioning the legality of Mercedes' new engine through clandestine meetings and correspondence.

The sport is poised for a major transition, with significant technical reformulations on the horizon. Concerns are surfacing that Mercedes, alongside Red Bull, which now manufactures its engines, might be exploiting regulatory loopholes concerning the thermal expansion of components. Such maneuvers could potentially undermine competitiveness for other teams like Ferrari, Cadillac, Haas, Audi, and Aston Martin.

Wolff highlighted productive communications with the FIA, emphasizing compliance with regulations. He condemned rival teams for indulging in speculative strategies that lacked basis, advising them to focus on tangible performance issues instead. Despite apprehensions, early evidence from initial testing suggests minimal performance discrepancies among teams.
