Mitchell Santner and Devon Conway will play a limited role in New Zealand's upcoming Twenty20 series against South Africa, as announced by New Zealand Cricket on Wednesday. The decision comes on the heels of their participation in the recently concluded World Cup.
The five-match series kicks off next Sunday in Tauranga, one week after New Zealand's World Cup final loss to India. Santner and Conway will participate in the first three matches, while paceman Lockie Ferguson is slated for games two and three in Hamilton and Auckland.
Tom Latham will assume captaincy and wicketkeeping duties for the final two matches, scheduled in Wellington and Christchurch. The squad also welcomes uncapped players Katene Clarke, Nick Kelly, and Jayden Lennox. Several World Cup squad members, including Finn Allen and Glenn Phillips, will miss the series.
