Sachin Tendulkar, a former cricketer from India, has lauded Kane Williamson as a 'thorough gentleman and a model role model for youngsters' in light of the New Zealand batter's unexpected retirement from international cricket. Through a post on X, Tendulkar acknowledged Williamson as a remarkable talent with exceptional technique and elegance, noting his balancing act, timing, and calm demeanor at the crease.

Tendulkar expressed, 'From the beginning of my cricket career, Kane Williamson has stood out as one of the most technically compact and brilliant batters I've encountered. His balance, timing, coupled with his recognizable serenity while batting, made watching him play a consistently enjoyable experience in the world of cricket. A true gentleman and an ideal example for young cricketers.' He also humorously remarked that Williamson's retirement might see some relief in bowling camps.

Williamson's decision to retire ends an internationally illustrious path, where he played 378 games for New Zealand, amassing an impressive 19,346 runs, including 48 centuries and six double-centuries, per the New Zealand Cricket website. Williamson, 35, recently participated in the 1st Test against England at Lord's, where he scored a duck and 18 runs before New Zealand succumbed to a 115-run defeat. As captain, he led New Zealand to 22 wins out of 40 Tests, second only to Stephen Fleming, achieving 46 ODI wins out of 91, and holds a record of 39 T20I wins in 75 matches.
