Al-Ahli's Historic Triumph: Consecutive Asian Champions League Victories

Al-Ahli made history by winning back-to-back Asian Champions League titles, defeating Machida Zelvia 1-0 in the final. Despite playing with 10 men, Feras Al-Brikan scored the decisive goal. Coach Matthias Jaissle praised the team’s resilience and credited home support as a key factor in their success.

For the first time in over twenty years, Saudi Pro League's Al-Ahli clinched consecutive Asian Champions League titles with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Japan's Machida Zelvia. The triumph came despite Al-Ahli being reduced to ten men late in the match after Zakaria Hawsawi's ejection, with Feras Al-Brikan scoring the crucial goal in extra time.

German coach Matthias Jaissle expressed immense pride for the dedication shown by his players, as he became the first coach to secure back-to-back titles since the inception of the Champions League era in 2002. “This year was special because we needed to overcome more obstacles along the way,” said Jaissle.

The victory echoed the achievements of city rivals Al-Ittihad, who also claimed consecutive championships in 2004 and 2005. Jaissle attributed part of their success to playing on home ground in Jeddah, where fervent fans provided essential support during the finals tournament.
