RCB Poised for Victory Over DC: Deep Dasgupta's Expert Analysis
Former cricketer Deep Dasgupta predicts RCB will have the upper hand against DC in IPL 2026, citing Delhi's fluctuating confidence and RCB's robust performance. He highlights Delhi's recent defeat to Punjab Kings as a concern, particularly their shaky bowling and fielding despite strong batting displays.
Former India cricketer Deep Dasgupta has weighed in on the upcoming IPL 2026 showdown between the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC), predicting RCB's edge given DC's waning confidence. Speaking as a JioStar expert on Star Sports, Dasgupta highlighted DC's recent drubbing by Punjab Kings (PBKS) as a significant worry.
"RCB holds the upper hand against DC," Dasgupta stated, bringing attention to Delhi's lack of confidence following their defeat by Punjab. He noted that while Delhi's colossal score in that game demonstrated their batting prowess, continued weaknesses in bowling and fielding pose major challenges.
Following a record-breaking chase at Arun Jaitley Stadium, KL Rahul's unbeaten 152 was futile as Delhi Capitals faced a six-wicket loss to PBKS. "Failing to defend 264 dents team morale," mentioned Dasgupta, acknowledging their batting success but criticizing subpar bowling and fielding efforts.
Turning his lens to RCB, Dasgupta praised their excellent form and all-rounded play, especially their bowlers' performance. He raised the issue of opener Phil Salt's absence, indicating potential hurdles, but saw promise in Jacob Bethell joining Virat Kohli as an opening pair. Currently second on the points table with 10 points, RCB is well-positioned to advance in the tournament.
