In a recent turn of events, a women's group has called for a thorough investigation after visuals purportedly showed cricketer Riyan Parag using a vape-like device during an IPL match. The collective, Mothers Against Vaping, is concerned the incident could potentially normalize prohibited items such as vapes and e-cigarettes across India.

The video, captured on April 28 during the Rajasthan Royals versus Punjab Kings match, allegedly depicts the 24-year-old athlete vaping in the dressing room. Despite BCCI officials seeking clarification from the team's captain, the group criticized the lack of formal notice against Parag, stressing the importance of adhering to the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019.

Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's past warnings regarding e-cigarettes, the group expressed that such a high-profile incident on national television could send the wrong signal to young viewers. They urged for an investigation to determine whether this was a deliberate act of defiance, a mistake, or a publicity move for banned products. The group insists that public figures should not be exempt from laws designed to protect public health.
