Sri Lanka is gaining significant momentum ahead of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026, following a dominant performance against Bangladesh. Having secured the ODI series with a 2-1 victory, the Sri Lankan team continued their impressive form by clinching the first two T20Is of the three-match series, thereby boosting their confidence as they head into the major tournament.

In the opening T20I, Sri Lanka set a competitive total of 161, thanks to strong contributions from Imesha Dulani, who scored 55, and Harshitha Samarawickrama, who contributed 61. A disciplined bowling display restricted Bangladesh to 136, securing a comfortable 25-run win in the series opener. The second match mirrored Sri Lanka's consistency. Batting first, they amassed 154 with key performances from Chamari Athapaththu and Harshitha Samarawickrama. The bowling attack, led by Kavisha Dilhari's 2/15, effectively contained Bangladesh to 133, achieving a 21-run victory.

Looking ahead, Sri Lanka's final T20I will offer an opportunity to fine-tune their strategy before embarking on their World Cup journey against hosts England. Having never advanced beyond the group stages since the tournament's inception in 2009, Sri Lanka aims to rewrite history. For Bangladesh, the series has been a challenging start, prompting a need to regroup for the final game. Post Sri Lanka series, they will engage in a tri-series with Scotland and Netherlands for further preparation. Like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh is yet to reach the knockout phase of the T20 World Cup, having debuted in 2014. Their campaign begins against the Netherlands on June 14.
