Karnataka Cabinet Bolsters Scheduled Caste Recruitment Quotas

The Karnataka Cabinet has reaffirmed policies for internal reservation within the Scheduled Castes quota and updated recruitment processes. Improvements include a 400-point roster system and revised notifications. The changes aim to expedite recruitment across departments, contingent upon Supreme Court approval for expanded reservation percentages.

The Karnataka Cabinet, in a decisive move, has reaffirmed its commitment to internal reservation policies within the Scheduled Castes' 15 per cent quota. The adjustments aim to streamline recruitment processes, incorporating a 400-point roster system to enhance efficiency.

Karnataka Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil emphasized the importance of the modifications, including withdrawal and reissue of challenging notifications and adopting policies that allow all 101 Scheduled Caste communities to compete more broadly.

If approval from the Supreme Court is granted, the Cabinet's decisions will address a significant recruitment backlog, aiming to fill over 56,000 positions across various departments under the revised reservation system.
