Mitchell Santner, a prominent figure in New Zealand cricket, has been sidelined for potential up to a month due to a left shoulder injury. The incident occurred last week while Santner was fielding for the Mumbai Indians during an IPL match against Chennai Super Kings.

Following the injury, which resulted in a 103-run loss for his team, Santner returned to New Zealand and consulted a specialist. He was advised to undergo rest and rehabilitation, impacting his participation in national matches.

Consequently, the 34-year-old cricketer will miss a one-off test against Ireland and the opening test of a series against England. His availability for subsequent matches will be assessed at a later date. In the interim, South African left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj has taken his spot in the Mumbai Indians squad.
