Delhi Capitals Stun Rajasthan Royals in Record-Breaking Run Chase
Delhi Capitals triumphed over Rajasthan Royals with a historic run chase, clinching a seven-wicket victory in IPL 2026 at Jaipur. The match saw DC achieve their highest successful chase and highlighted the trend of high-scoring games this season. KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka's partnership set the pace for this win.
The Delhi Capitals showcased a formidable batting performance by securing a seven-wicket victory over the Rajasthan Royals during their IPL 2026 face-off at Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur. Chasing a formidable target of 226, the Capitals' successful pursuit marked their highest-ever run chase in the tournament's history, eclipsing their previous benchmarks.
The successful chase now stands as DC's pinnacle, surpassing prior achievements against teams like Lucknow Super Giants, Gujarat Lions, and Punjab Kings. This stood as the second-highest chase against the Royals, trailing only Sunrisers Hyderabad's 229-run feat earlier this season, highlighting Jaipur's favorable batting conditions.
The victory added to Rajasthan's woes at their home ground, where they've lost six of the last seven matches since 2025. This match also echoed a growing IPL 2026 trend of high-scoring chases, where this season alone has recorded seven successful pursuits of 220 or more runs, compared to just five from 2008 to 2025.
Highlighting individual performances, KL Rahul's consistent form in the league continued, earning him his 17th Player of the Match award, placing him high among Indian cricket stalwarts. Meanwhile, Rajasthan's Jofra Archer faced a challenging spell, conceding 46 runs in his most expensive innings this season.
The match began with an electrifying 110-run opening partnership between KL Rahul (75 off 40) and Pathum Nissanka (62 off 33), setting the ideal base for the Capitals' record chase. Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma finished the task with five balls remaining. Earlier, Riyan Parag's impressive 90 and Donovan Ferreira's explosive 47 powered the Royals to a competitive total of 225/6 despite early setbacks.
