Jamaica brought the crowd to its feet at the World Athletics Relays in Gaborone, Botswana, by breaking their own mixed 4x100 metres relay world record. Clocking a remarkable 39.62 seconds, the Jamaican team shattered the previous barrier of 40 seconds they set just a day prior.
In a thrilling showdown with Canada, the Jamaican quartet, consisting of Ackeem Blake, Tina Clayton, Kadrian Goldson, and Tia Clayton, sprinted to victory, clinching the World Relays title. Canada was a close second with a time of 40.23 seconds, while the U.S. followed at 40.33 seconds.
The record-breaking performance not only exemplifies Jamaica's dominance in sprinting events but also sets a new benchmark for mixed relays worldwide.
