India Reigns Supreme: Dominating ICC Men's T20I Rankings
India, under Suryakumar Yadav's leadership, has successfully retained its T20 World Cup title, topping the ICC Men's T20I Team Rankings with 275 points. England and Australia trail closely, while Sri Lanka drops to ninth. The USA makes notable gains, while newcomers Italy shine in their debut performance.
India has cemented its position at the top of the ICC Men's T20I Team Rankings following a historic retention of the T20 World Cup title under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav. Currently leading with 275 points, India maintains a slender advantage over England, who are at 262 points. Australia follows in third with 258 points, as the latest rankings evaluate matches played since May 2025 at full weight and those from previous years at half weight.
The latest update was anticipated by cricket analysts, reflecting India's continued dominance of the format across two successive T20 World Cup victories in 2024 and 2026, along with an unbroken series record. While the top seven rankings remain stable, Sri Lanka's slide of six points demotes them to ninth, allowing Bangladesh to climb to eighth. Close on their heels, Afghanistan holds the tenth position, while the USA's surge sees them leap to 13th place after gaining six points.
Italy's debut at the T20 World Cup has been particularly noteworthy, as they secured a stunning 10-wicket victory over Nepal, prompting a leap from 26th to 23rd in the rankings. However, the rankings list has contracted from 102 to 98 teams due to non-compliance with match participation criteria by Fiji, Gambia, Greece, and Israel.
