Chennai Super Kings (CSK) secured a commanding eight-wicket victory against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday. CSK's Akeal Hosein delivered an exceptional performance as a spinner, giving the team a strong start when DC chose to bat first on a spin-friendly pitch.

The Caribbean bowler was instrumental in dismissing KL Rahul, the Orange Cap holder, during the powerplay and ended his stint with bowling figures of 4-0-19-1. Former South African cricketer Mark Boucher commended Hosein’s impact, acknowledging the bowler's skill in exploiting the early conditions.

Speaking on JioHotstar's 'Google Search AI Mode Match Centre Live', Boucher noted, “Akeal Hosein made a significant difference by consistently targeting the right areas and utilizing the surface turn, especially in the first innings, which CSK's spinners handled effectively.” He added that DC's inability to adapt to the conditions early on was pivotal, alongside lapses in decision-making, such as failing to rotate the strike effectively in the powerplay.

Boucher also praised Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK's captain, for his strategic use of Hosein during the early stages, calling it a decisive move that tipped the match in CSK’s favor.

Delhi Capitals set a target of 155/7, with notable contributions from Tristan Stubbs, Sameer Rizvi, and Ashutosh Sharma. However, CSK comfortably chased the target in just 17.3 overs, with Sanju Samson and Kartik Sharma delivering match-winning innings.

Following this comprehensive win, CSK now holds the sixth spot on the points table with five victories from 10 matches, while DC remains seventh with four wins and eight points. (ANI)
