The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced it would shift the IPL final from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad, prioritizing commercial viability. Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwra emphasized that the relocation was not linked to ticket distributions to local legislators.
Parameshwra clarified the BCCI's decision amidst circulating rumors, affirming that logistical arrangements in Bengaluru were impeccable. He noted that Ahmedabad's extensive seating capacity, which exceeds one lakh, likely influenced the decision over Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy stadium, which seats approximately 33,000.
While local fans expressed disappointment, officials reassured that the shift adheres to BCCI guidelines, favoring a larger venue to accommodate more spectators. Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar also defended the move, underscoring the necessity of aligning with commercial prospects.
