Vinesh Phogat Fights Back Against Wrestling Federation's Suspension
Vinesh Phogat challenges her suspension by the Wrestling Federation of India, asserting that she's being targeted for her activism. Despite being declared ineligible for certain events, Phogat stresses her right to compete and vows not to be defeated by what she perceives as a conspiracy against her.
Vinesh Phogat, a renowned wrestler, has accused the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) of deliberately targeting her to push her out of the sport. Speaking boldly to reporters, Phogat expressed her determination to fight against what she describes as a conspiracy by powerful figures in the federation.
Declared ineligible to compete in the National Open Ranking tournament due to ongoing disciplinary proceedings, Phogat defied the federation by arriving at the event, claiming her eligibility. She criticizes the federation’s language and questions her safety despite her achievements representing India globally.
The WFI has issued show-cause notices to Phogat, citing indiscipline and anti-doping rule breaches. Although Phogat had notified United World Wrestling of her intention to resume competition, the WFI remains unsatisfied, continuing the disciplinary proceedings against her.
