The breach involved an obscene gesture, confirmed by the IPL's official statement.

The Australian player admitted to contravening Article 2.6, concerning offensive gestures. Such breaches involve fines and demerit points under the league's guidelines, with sanctions deemed final once accepted. Match referee Amit Sharma confirmed David's acceptance of the penalties.

As for the match itself, RCB, having opted to bowl first, found success early with Bhuvneshwar Kumar's brilliance leading to MI's early struggles. However, MI's 166/7 total was built on solid partnerships. RCB's response saw them struggle initially but eventually clinch victory in the final moments, solidifying their lead on the points table.
