Drama Unfolds in Curacao: Football Coach Shifts Amid Leadership Changes

Fred Rutten has stepped down as the head coach of the Curacao national football team, the country's Football Federation (FFK) announced on Monday. This decision could pave the way for the return of his predecessor, Dick Advocaat, as the team prepares for the World Cup.

According to a statement from the FFK, Rutten's resignation was decided upon following 'open and constructive' discussions with federation president Gilbert Martina. Although Rutten was not directly involved in any internal disputes, he chose to leave to maintain a professional environment within the squad. 'A climate that damages healthy professional relationships among players and staff must not be allowed to emerge,' Rutten expressed in a social media statement released by the federation.

Dick Advocaat, aged 78, previously guided Curacao to a historic World Cup qualification but stepped down earlier this year to care for his ailing daughter. With her health reportedly improved, Dutch media indicate Advocaat is willing to return. A press conference regarding these developments is set for Tuesday.
