Former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid has invested in the Dublin franchise for the European T20 Premier League, aiming to enhance cricket's presence in Europe. He emphasizes building a strong foundation for cricket across Europe, envisioning these regions becoming competitive cricketing nations with proper support and opportunity.

Rahul Dravid, India's cricket legend, has shifted his focus from the pitch to the boardroom with a strategic investment in the European T20 Premier League (ETPL), acquiring Dublin's franchise. Dravid views this venture as a stable and purposeful endeavor to boost cricket's profile in Europe's predominantly soccer-centric sports arena.

At a press conference revealing him as the Dublin Guardians’ owner in the six-team ETPL, backed by the cricket boards of Ireland, Scotland, and the Netherlands, Dravid expressed, "Building something new in Europe was a thrilling proposition. Although cricket isn't the top sport here, its rich history and tradition make this opportunity unique."

Ravichandran Ashwin, another significant Indian cricket figure, will serve as captain and mentor for Dublin. Dravid believes that with the right exposure and support, European countries could emerge as formidable competitors in international cricket, drawing inspiration from countries like New Zealand.
