Ecuador's Jhonatan Narvaez clinched a remarkable victory in stage four of the Giro d'Italia on Tuesday, racing past Orluis Aular to the finish. Italian rider Giulio Ciccone capitalized on the stage to don the leader's pink jersey, securing a third-place finish.

The race, returning to Italian soil after the first three stages in Bulgaria, saw its first significant alterations with Narvaez surging ahead, leaving Aular behind. The Ecuadorian, who last competed before enduring a crash in January in Australia, celebrated his comeback with this impressive win.

With the 138-km course from Catanzaro to Cosenza springing to life during a 80 km climb to Cozzo Tunno, Narvaez's triumph rearranged the leaderboard. His teammate Jan Christen made notable efforts but ultimately fell short. Italian Ciccone moved into the top spot, while stage two winner Guillermo Thomas Silva lagged behind.
