Rugby enthusiasts are in for a treat with the upcoming Nations Championship, a groundbreaking 12-team tournament beginning in July. This newly launched event promises to organize the international rugby schedule, moving away from the traditional system of European teams touring the southern hemisphere and vice versa.
Kicking off on July 4, New Zealand will face France in Christchurch, while South Africa takes on England in Johannesburg. The action eventually shifts to Europe in November, culminating in a finals weekend at London's iconic Twickenham on November 29.
According to Tom Harrison, CEO of Six Nations, the fixture schedule is designed to maximize global fan engagement, aided by significant broadcast partnerships. This competition is set to enhance the visibility of players and teams, marking a new chapter in rugby history.
