WFI Concludes Greco-Roman Events at Senior Open Tournament 2026

The Wrestling Federation of India wrapped up the Greco-Roman category at the Senior Open Ranking Tournament 2026 in Nandininagar Mahavidyalaya. Women's categories are now in focus, progressing through the knockout stages to finalize national rankings, showcasing top talents both domestically and for upcoming international platforms.

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) concluded the Men's Greco-Roman events at the 2026 Senior Open Ranking Tournament at Nandininagar Mahavidyalaya on Tuesday. With the Greco-Roman medalists confirmed, the tournament now transitions to the Women's Wrestling category, where athletes advance through knockout rounds to secure national standings, according to a press release.

The Greco-Roman section involved competitors battling across 10 weight categories to finalize their national rankings. WFI President Sanjay Singh expressed congratulations to medalists and participants, acknowledging the dedication displayed. He emphasized the tournament's pivotal role in assessing domestic talent, asserting that these champions will further strengthen India's presence on the international wrestling stage.

Meanwhile, the Women's Wrestling competition has reached the late knockout phases. In the 57kg category, Kajal Choudhary defeated Muskan to move to the quarterfinals, setting up a match against Shivani, who triumphed over Suhani. Reena bested Nisha Saini to schedule a semifinal face-off with Hansika Lamba, after Lamba defeated Kajal earlier. Dishun, Janvi, Sneha, and Deeksha Sheor advanced in the 65kg bracket, while Ishita Choudhary and Meghna are set to clash in the 76kg semifinals.
