Indian wrestling star and Olympian Vinesh Phogat has asserted her eligibility to participate in the Senior Open Ranking Tournament, standing firm against allegations from the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). Phogat, a Haryana Congress MLA, vowed to address the concerns raised by the WFI's show-cause notice.

The notice accuses Phogat of multiple violations, including anti-doping breaches and failing to meet weight requirements, sparking questions about her participation in upcoming competitions. Phogat, in Ayodhya, expressed confidence in fulfilling her aspirations to win medals for India, citing the support of her legal team and advisors as she prepares a detailed response.

Phogat has criticized the WFI for misinterpreting her competitive timeline and confirmed her eligibility for the 2026 Senior Open Ranking Tournament in Gonda, with backing from the International Testing Agency. By resolving these disputes, she aims to focus her efforts on representing India in international events like the 2026 Asian Games.
